Minden is ideally located for soaring pilots who want to experience soaring at its best. We are situated at the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada escarpment, where prevailing winds tumble into the Carson Valley and generate the most consistent high-altitude mountain wave in the world.  High altitude flights are possible here year-'round using "nature's elevator", and record long distance flights are also possible in mountain wave.  Come give it a go!

At the western edge of America's Great Basin, Minden is also the ideal location to set off on long-distance soaring flights during our summer thermal season.  Come fly hundreds of kilometers daily between June and September.
